This last Christmas I received one of the greatest gifts EVER. No, it was not peace on earth. No, it was not a husband. Which leaves only one option...cassette tapes!
After opening real presents with the extended family, my aunt and uncle plopped a huge non-Christmas gift bag in front of me and said here's your "almost Christmas" present. To my surprise (actually they foretold the gift would come) I found a plethora of old cassette tapes inside. I think I know what you're thinking...AWESOME!!! Right?!
Well, maybe you're thinking I'm weird. Maybe I am. But before you judge too quickly you should know that the Flying Dakota only has a cassette player. Therefore I have a great need for cassette tapes to increase my music choices. You might think it would be worth my while to get a new stereo installed...with a CD player. Or enter the 21st century and buy an ipod and then get a plug in for the stereo. Let me point out that both of those options require a significant amount of money that I can't quite justify spending yet. So until that day of big spending, I'm rockin' out to the few tapes I could bring out with me, including Billy Joel, the Eagles, Heart, Garth Brooks, Lionel Richie, Linda Ronstadt, Michael Jackson's "We are the World," LeAnn Rimes, as well as the Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, and Bodyguard soundtracks, and many other artists my aunt (and maybe my uncle?) enjoyed about 15 years ago. If you need help remembering the masterpieces that were produced by these artists' albums, then you should google them after chastising yourself for missing out or forgetting some of last century's greatest entertainment.
