Restaurant Week in DC

Twice a year close to 200 restaurants in the Washington, DC area offer special three course menus at fixed prices for lunch and dinner. Since it's 2010, this year's lunch is $20.10 and dinner is $35.10. People in DC rave about it because you essentially get to eat three course gourmet meals at a steal of a deal.

Today LG and I went to eat lunch at Bibiana. During Restaurant Week you have to consider that most restaurants participating will be packed and the restaurant tries to get you in and out as soon as possible. I'm sure they do this to get in more revenue as well as meet the high demand for tables. But sometimes it's still difficult to meet the demand. Our service at Bibiana was surprisingly long and we waited close to 20 minutes for our first course. The waiter noticed that we hadn't received our first course and asked if we were pressed for time. We really weren't because both of our bosses understood where we were, but we did tell him we were on our lunch break. He offered to bring our first and second course out at the same time and we agreed that would be best. We just wanted good food.

Then the maitre d' approached us and stated that he would be paying for one of our lunches since they had to serve both courses at the same time. We hadn't even complained about it! So we both got a Restaurant Week lunch for less than $20 (we still gave the waiter a good tip). And the food really was delicious. I'll definitely go back since now I know the excellent service they give too.
